Alan has kindly agreed to allow notification of <br>
The PANalytical Award on this forum.<br>
<br>
By this initiative an early career scientist <br>
would be rewarded with a ¬ 5,000 cash prize.  The <br>
project was envisaged as a way of advancing <br>
scientists that are presently establishing their <br>
research careers and are therefore most affected <br>
by the reduced government research spending in <br>
many regions due to the prevailing economic <br>
climate.  Researchers that have never held a <br>
professorship are eligible to apply and the field <br>
is restricted to research where a <br>
laboratory-scale X-ray technique was used as the <br>
primary analytical tool.  (On this point, <br>
recipients are not limited to any particular <br>
brand of instrument that was used to reach their conclusions.)<br>
<br>
Applications for the prize will consist of a <br>
journal article published in a scientific journal <br>
and, based on the journal article, the winner <br>
decided by a selection committee composed of <br>
three respected international scientist and two <br>
specialists that are in the employ of <br>
PANalytical.  Highest priority will be given to <br>
submissions of work in topical fields and that <br>
demonstrate scientific excellence and innovative thinking.<br>

The closing date for applications is 30 September <br>
2012, and I'll likely post a reminder prior to this date.<br>
