      <p>Dear Colleagues,<br>

we cordially invite you to the SMARTER 3 conference, held in the University of Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines (France), September 10-13, 2012.<br>
<br>
The aim of the SMARTER 3 conference (<a href="http://www.smarter3.uvsq.fr";>http://www.smarter3.uvsq.fr</a>) is to contribute to the emergence of a scientific community that practices and shares a common crystallographic knowledge based upon Diffraction and NMR methods, Topological crystallography and Structure Modeling, i.e. a &quot;SMARTER Crystallography&quot; approach to structure elucidation. Many researchers have been doing so for a long time and since 2007, they  have their meeting with SMARTER.<br>
<br>
Accordingly, the meeting focuses on three main topics:<br>
<br>
a) NMR Crystallography, methods and principles, applications of a SMARTER Crystallography approach, with a distinction between (i) inorganic materials, (ii) organic compounds.<br>
<br>
b) Diffraction crystallography of powders by X-ray, Neutrons and Electron Diffractions. This domain covers: (i) the development of different possible strategies to solve crystal structure from powders, (ii) the state of automation of structure resolution and software development.<br>
<br>
c) Structure Modeling: (i) quantum modeling of structures and their physical observables, (ii) topological analysis, modeling of structures and topological crystallography.<br>
<br>
And any combination of these three topics are welcome !<br>
