If the samples are still badly crystallized, with lamellar
disorder, turbostratic effects, then the powder patterns
continue to show diffraction bands and highly asymmetrical
profile shapes.
I am afraid that the only remedy would be to have a better
crystallinity rather than to try to describe two-dimensional
order with three-dimensional models.
