So, the experiment without sample was not useless ? now having two
humps you may double the moral compensation sum from Bruker :)
I would also try to perform a zero-2theta scan instead of theta-2theta
to exclude the primary beam scattering on the sample holder device and
see the result.
The most radical solution would be to assemble a small portable
beam-stop with a manual holder, move the detector to the hump position
and put the beam-stop at different places along the primary beam path
checking the intensity by the intensimeter. I do not know, however, if
Bruker D8 allows such a manual invasion.
