[sdpd] inference

hi all
In my powder XRD pattern the maximum intensity was indexed to (311)
plane including several other peaks. but when i made it in to a thin
film(on quartz)about 100nm thickness, i am getting only one peak which
is indexed to (111) plane which is having very low intensity in powder.
why is to so? Is that the thickness of film makes this? Or it shows
low crystallanity? Please let me know since i am a beginner in such
analysis?
