[sdpd] Post-doctoral vacancies in crystallography
The Italian National Research Council (CNR), through IC (Institute of
Crystallography) is offering some fellowships mainly focused in the
microstructural characterisation of different classes of materials with
particular attention to one of the following research areas:
Ø powder diffraction techniques on polycrystalline materials and peak
profile analysis;
Ø transmission electron microscopy (TEM);
Ø high resolution x-ray scattering techniques
Ø computational crystallography
Ø SIR MIR, SAD MAD techniques.
These fellowships will be offered on behalf of the "Marie Curie Development
Host Fellowships Programme", available under the Fifth Framework Programme
funded by the European Community.
The fellows will be hosted at CNR IC, an institute of the Italian National
Research Council, where they will join a group of researchers and PhD
students. Fellows will be expected to attend and to give seminars for being
fully integrated with the scientific activities of the Department, having
thus the opportunity of joining one of the major European group in
crystallography, with an outstanding research reputation.
The realisation of new laboratories, will become a preferential pivot for
the integration of the new competence into the activity of the research
group, favouring a stable scientific collaboration with the fellows,
particularly by exploiting the competencies in the field of material
characterisation of the new researchers of the permanent staff.
The duration of each fellow's project is between 6 and 24 months and
fellows must be nationals of a Member or Associated State or able to
provide proof of having resided in one of the Member States at least for
the last five years prior to their selection. In case of non EU/Associated
State national, he/she is not eligible if he/she was residing in Italy for
more than two years in the last five years immediately prior to the
selection date.
The scientific activities will be co-ordinated by Prof. Carmelo Giacovazzo
The indicative gross monthly subsistence allowance will be 3800 Euro plus
some allowance for travel.
CNR-IC is located in Bari, Italy

Eligibility Criteria for Fellows[1]
The fellows selected by the hosts must meet the following criteria at the
time of
selection:
1. Nationality or residence
Fellows must be nationals of a Member or Associated State (see lists of
Member and Associated States in section 3.1), or be able to provide proof
of having resided in Member States at least for the last five years prior
to their selection by the host (e.g. national residing permits; employment
contracts, university registration, etc.). Fellows should ensure that they
are able to fulfil the immigration and visa requirements for the Member or
Associated State in which the host institution is located.
2. Mobility
Fellows may not carry out their fellowship in the country of their
nationality and in his/her recent centre of activity. Hosts cannot appoint
researchers who have carried out their normal activity (work, studies
etc.) in the country where the research is going to take place for more
than 12 months in the two years immediately prior to their selection by
the host. For Marie Curie Training Sites, fellows may not carry out their
fellowship in the country where they normally pursue their doctoral
studies. Additionally, nationals of an Associated State may only carry out
their fellowship in a Member State. In addition, fellows can only carry out
their fellowship in a host institution located in a Community Less-Favoured
Region.
3. Age limit
The fellow must be of age 35 years or less. However, allowance, in this
respect, is made for time actually served in compulsory military or civil
service and for childcare with a maximum of 2 years per child for the
actual time spent off work.
Member States
There are 15 Member States: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal,
Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Associated States
There are 15 Associated States: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia,
Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Poland,
