[sdpd] extracting data from film

Dear SDPD member,

I am interested in developing/using (if available) a software to 
analyse the diffraction intensty pattern (powder/Laue)recorded on an 
X-ray film. I have a scanner (HP) to scan the developed film and not 
a densitometer. I need to extract the intensity (relative scale) data 
at pixel resolution from the scan information provided by the 
scanner. Is it possible to do so? (in principle it appears so) Can 
anybody tell me how this can be done or if there is any 
free/commercial software for this?
