Visiting Professorship Scheme

Not all schools qualify for help through the Sub-committee on the Union Calendar as these have to be international in character. The Executive Committee recognises that there are many worthwhile schools in developing countries and countries of the former Eastern bloc that are not international but would nevertheless benefit greatly from IUCr support. The IUCr Visiting Professorship Scheme was therefore established. According to this Scheme, up to three eminent scientists present a short course at a workshop or school and their travel and insurance costs are met by the IUCr. The local organizers cover the accommodation/subsistence expenses.

Visiting Professorships have so far been held in a number of countries and have been very much appreciated by the hosts.
