The scientific programme included four invited plenary lectures presented by:
Prof. M. Kaftory (Technion, Haifa, Israel): Three Decades of Chemical Reactions in the Solid State, From Photodimerization to Methyl Transfer
Prof. E. Tillmanns (University, Vienna, Austria): How to Avoid Unnecessarily Low Symmetry in Crystal Structure Determinations
Prof. A.M. Tonejc (University, Zagreb, Croatia): High-Resolution Electron Microscopy (HREM): Image Processing Analysis of Defects and Grain Boundaries in Nanocrystalline Materials
Dr. K. Djinovic Carugo (EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany): Protein Function Through Crystallography
All together 57 crystallographers participated at the meeting and they presented 40 oral contributions dealing with all aspects of crystallography and its applications in fundamental, chemical, physical, protein research and in material science. The official language of the meeting, written and spoken, was English. Abstracts of the plenary lectures and oral contributions were published in the Book of Abstracts. The participants also enjoyed a pleasant trip to wine cellars in Gornja Radgona and the conference dinner in the local pub "Janzev vrh" in the middle of vineyards near Spa Radenci. The programme of the meeting is displayed on the net at http://www.uni-lj.si/www/kem/meeting.htm . The Eighth Croatian-Slovenian Crystallographic Meeting will be held in June 1999 at the Istrian coast in Croatia.
