Postdoctoral Position in High Pressure Synthesis and Characterization
The Los Alamos Neutron Scattering Center (LANSCE-LC) is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to work on an on-going project of material synthesis under high pressures and high temperatures. With a mission to synthesize and characterization of hydrogen-storage materials and other exotic materials, primary responsibilities will include sample preparation, high-pressure/temperature synthesis experiments, sample analysis using neutron/x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and micro-hardness measurements, etc. Previous experience with high-pressure technologies (especially gas/fluid cells), materials synthesis, and neutron/x-ray diffraction is highly desirable. The candidate is expected to publish the results of his/her basic research in the open literature and present it at relevant conferences.
Education: A Ph.D. in Solid State Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Earth Science, or a related field completed within the last three years or soon to be completed is required.
