An AHA-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Herr at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The project is focused on structural and biophysical studies of platelet receptors, with particular interest in the interaction between glycoprotein VI (GPVI) and various ligands.
The successful candidate should have a PhD degree, be highly motivated, and show expertise in cloning and protein purification, protein crystallography, and biophysical techniques such as surface plasmon resonance, isothermal titration calorimetry, or analytical ultracentrifugation. Fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.
The Herr laboratory (http://homepages.uc.edu/~herrab/) is well equipped for x-ray crystallography, analytical ultracentrifugation, dynamic light scattering, and isothermal titration calorimetry. We have access to circular dichroism, surface plasmon resonance, and fluorescence spectroscopy.
The University of Cincinnati is the 2nd largest state university in Ohio, and the College of Medicine is ranked in the top tier of research-oriented US medical schools. Cincinnati is a beautiful city with a low cost of living and numerous cultural attractions that recently has been rated by Fortune magazine as one of the top 10 cities in which to live and work.
