NEUTRON REFLECTOMETRY STUDIES OF FUEL CELL MATERIALS

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) through its cooperative research programs, is currently seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research associate position in fuel cell materials science.

This position primarily entails using in-situ neutron reflectometry and related techniques for structural analysis of relevant parameters in working fuel cell membranes, for example nano structure and hydration in PEMs. An additional independent research program which takes advantage of the world class neutron instrumentation available at the NCNR, a major national laboratory, is highly encouraged.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or related field and excellent experimental skills. Experience in fuel cell polymers, fuel cell catalysts and / or electrochemistry is preferred. Experience in x-ray or neutron reflectometry or diffraction while helpful is not necessary. The appointment will initially be for two years with the possibility of extension for outstanding performance. Salary is in the range from $54,000 to $58,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

More information about the NCNR can be found at the web site www.ncnr.nist.gov.

Applications will be accepted until March 16, 2007.

A resume and a 1-page description of your research interest should be sent (preferably electronically) to:
